First meeting
We had our very first meeting at the University of Minnesota-St. Paul campus last Friday. Thank you to all who were able to attend! It was a great turnout and hopefully it only continues to grow from here.
Here's a recap of the meeting if you weren't able to make it:
Workshop ideas
One of our group's goals is to provide women with opportunities for learning new skills. They can be job oriented or just for fun. We asked meeting attendees for workshop ideas and here is what we came up with:
-Changing a tire
-Bike repair
-Cleaning a fish
-Trailer training
-Chainsaws
-Small engines
-Saws
-Tree pruning
-Ice Fishing
If you have something you'd like to learn or a workshop you'd like to lead, let us know.
Changing our name
We would like to make our club name more inclusive of other natural resource professions/majors. Here are the names suggested at the meeting:
-WinNR: Women in Natural Resources (this was a club at the University of Minnesota before)
-WeFoRM: Women Engaged in Forestry and Resource Management
-WoW: Women of the Woods
-WotE: Women of the Earth
We want your input, let us know what you think. We would like to have a name chosen by the next meeting.
Our next formal meeting: TBD Date/Time/Location
Our next event: Join us for International Women's Day March 8, 2018 @ Surly Brewery in Minneapolis, 6pm-?
